Why are objects missing in my drawing?

Last Updated: Nov 17, 2017 09:18PM UTC

None of the data in your file has been modified. However, your DWG will have certain visual differences when you view it in AutoCAD web. For example, external references and certain other objects, such as "proxy" objects, will not be shown, and some font types will look different. If you open your drawing in any AutoCAD desktop product (AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, DWG TrueView, or an AutoCAD vertical product), you'll still see an accurate representation of your file.

External References are Missing

Point clouds, underlays (such as PDF or DGN underlays), and certain images and other types of external references may not display.

To Attach a Missing External Refernce or Replace an Existing Reference

1. Select the XREF palette.
A list of external references in the drawing displays.
2. In the list of external references, right-click the file name and choose Upload to repair a missing reference or Replace to replace an existing reference.

Fonts Look Different

Certain font styles will not display and have been converted to Simplex.shx.

Usable Image Types

The following image types can display:

  • .JPG
  • .PNG
  • .GIF
  • .BMP

Some Objects are Missing

Certain "proxy" objects are not visible in AutoCAD web. This includes objects such as:

  • 3D solids and other 3D geometry
  • Regions
  • Objects from AutoCAD Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical
  • Other custom objects
